Oculus Rift VR headset costs £500, Sony thinks it’s too much

Second, the first batch of pre-orders will ship as early as the 28 of March and some purchasers are reporting their ship dates as late at May. This will come with the previously announced pre-order freebies, which is a free copy of “Eve: Valkyrie” by CCP Games and “Lucky’s Tale” by Playful. As much as it costs, though, Oculus Rift is supposed to offer up the most immersive and comprehensive virtual reality experience we’ve yet to see.

This year has been widely touted as the year of Virtual Reality as several companies are targeting consumers with their own VR headsets.

Preorders for the Oculus Rift have opened, and with them comes more information: the Rift will be shipping at some point in March, for $599.

The Rift headset will include built-in headphones and mic and come packaged with a sensor and an Xbox One controller. In addition to the Rift finally making it to retail, the HTC Vive is expected to launch sometime this year, likely around April.
