Oculus Rift VR headset price revealed, pre-orders now available
Oculus has officially opened up the flood-gates on pre-order for the Rift, though the price-point is somewhat steeper than originally expected, with a tag of approximately $599.
The touch controller for the headset, which will let you do a lot of cool stuffs, is not shipping with the headset, however, you can choose to get notified once it’s up for pre-order.
The Rift is just one of three upscale consumer headsets that are set to launch this year, including HTC’s Vive and Sony’s PlayStation VR. Presumably this will continue to slip as pre-orders build, so if you’re desperate for one this side of Christmas, you should put your money down sooner rather than later.
In addition to Lucky’s Tale and Valkyrie, Oculus promises that over 100 titles will be available by the end of 2016.
Still, when you consider the price of a gaming rig powerful enough to make the most out of Oculus, there’s no arguing that it’s going to be an expensive trip to those virtual worlds.
The Rift will ship with a remote control, a sensor and an XBox One controller. Oculus also said it will sell Rift through some retailers in April.

In terms of price and PC requirements it certainly doesn’t seem like a mainstream device (well, initially at least), but anticipation for the unit is still riding high.
