Oculus Sets a Date for Rift Preorders (and Some Answers)
Oculus has announced that backers of its Kickstarter campaign will receive free sets of the consumer headset.
The company has not yet released a price for the Rift, which is expected to ship by March.

Oculus Rift, the Facebook-owned VR company revealed today that it will be opening pre-orders for its VR headset later this week.
As mentioned earlier, Oculus Rift is now available for pre-order and will begin shipping on March 28th for $600. This means that we will hear something regarding the Rift’s price and release date soon.
Numerous first wave of customers encountered a crashed website when they tried to place their preorders, some of whom expressed their frustration to Palmer on Twitter.
However, initial orders will not come with the system’s Touch controllers after the company made a decision to redesign them, containing an Xbox One wireless controller instead. the new models will become available in the second half of the year, Oculus said in a blog post. The current shipping date on the site now reads April 2016.
Whether virtual-reality games will be good enough to nudge people into buyers is a concern.
The early Rift adopters will include a large number of gamers, which is why the device comes bundled with cartoon platforming video game, Lucky’s Tale.
