Oculus will reward its original Kickstarter backers with the new Rift
“People ask about Touch+Rift discount – Everyone with Touch needs a Rift, consider discount built into price of the subsidized Rift hardware”.
You can pre-order now from the Oculus shop, where orders are limited to one per customer.
The company announced in their official blog that the pre-orders for Rift will open on Oculus.com at 8am Pacific Time on January 6.
$599 sounds steep but experts have been predicting a high price point for the Rift’s commercial debut.

Earlier today, Oculus, developer of the headset, has made the Oculus Rift VR headset available for pre-order, and has also revealed more information on the headset’s release. That ship date will likely continue to slip as more people preorder their headsets.
Oculus Rift will finally go on sale for $599 (£499), and is expected to ship from March, the company confirmed. You’ll also get the Oculus Remote which can be used to easily browse the Oculus store, watch 360 video content, and play certain VR games.
But that has been delayed and the headset will instead come with an Xbox One controller. This Rift will be a special edition, meant to thank the 6,855 backers that ordered the original development kits from the company’s Kickstarter campaign. Users who pre-order the Oculus Rift VR headset will be getting two games free of cost – “Lucky’s Tale” and “Eve:Valkyrie”.
