Odell Beckham: Giants have ‘Super Bowl defense’
Beckham, who earlier in the game became the fastest receiver to reach 3,500 yards, doing so in 36 games, beat Bengals cornerback Adam Jones for the score that put his team back in the lead. The 24-year-old All Pro had twice as many catches as anyone else on the team as the Giants won, 21-20.
The New York Giants (6-3) extended their win streak to four games with a win over the Cincinnati Bengals (3-5-1) on Monday night but they did not come out completely unscathed. The close road loss at NY isn’t as much of a concern as the team’s overall inability to make plays in the final five minutes of just about any game this season.
He could be speaking for the entire Giants defense, which is the biggest reason the team has already won as many games (6) as they did each of the previous two season.
What helps the Giants is their upcoming schedule.
Unfortunately, that lead did not last long for the Giants, as they allowed a big play to Tyler Eifert after the Bengals confused them with a unusual formation.
It doesn’t matter that the game took place two weeks after Halloween. We’re playing every week as a whole. They need to get it going – or there could be changes coming.
If Odell and the Giants make it to the Super Bowl, who will OBJ bring to Houston as his date? Cincinnati has two games left with Baltimore and one with the Steelers, so it can make up ground. That led to a Beckham Jr., 10-yard touchdown catch and a Giants 14-10 halftime lead. “But we have to get our wins”. “We kind of knew and understood that the possibility might be a four-down territory, so we had a game plan for it”. Jenkins’ coverage was a part of what made Green a tougher target than usual for Andy Dalton, and the Bengals passer failed to produce a counterpunch.
The Giants could have gone to Beckham, but the Bengals were prepared for that.
Jennings’ late heroics allowed the Giants’ defense to rest for a change at the end.
“There’s still a lot of football to be played in a short period of time, but like I said, for the second half of the season, it’s usually when you start to see the run game start to get going”. For starters, despite winning two-thirds of its games thus far, Big Blue actually has a negative point differential (-2), a sign that perhaps they have been fortunate thus far.
Why? Because they’re not giving up points when points would hurt the most. We’ve got to do a better job of protecting our quarterback.
The Bengals twice had to settle for field goals when they got to the red zone. A Bengals field goal gave them a 10-7 lead. Along with showing off his dancing skills, OBJ became the fastest receiver in National Football League history to reach 3,5000 career yards. The Bengals’ redheaded quarterback is definitely going to feel the pain from this game tomorrow. NY ran five consecutive times for 38 yards and two first downs, draining the clock.
PASS DEFENSE: A-minus – Take away tight end Tyler Eifert’s 71-yard reception early in the game, which came when the Bengals confused the Giants with some unbalanced looks, and no Bengals receiver finished with more than 70 yards.
