Odell Beckham Jr.’s Antics During Loss to Panthers Could Earn Discipline

Beckham finished the game with six receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown as the Giants fell, 38-35, at home to Carolina.

Beckham and Norman were both involved in a physical one-on-one matchup during the New York Giants-Carolina Panthers clash on Sunday, which included shoving and at times fighting. The Giants, who have lost four of their last five games, travel to take on the Vikings (9-5) in Week 16 before hosting the Eagles in the regular-season finale.

Norman delivered his own share of hits, including a first-quarter bodyslam of Beckham, but he was especially angered by Beckham’s third-quarter helmet-to-helmet hit, which took place well after a play, and took place just a play after Beckham intentionally tried to trip Norman, also well after a play. “You never want to hurt your team like that”, he said of the three personal fouls he incurred. “It is just unfortunate”.

Despite Beckham’s obvious loss of composure and all the penalties, Giants coach Tom Coughlin did not bench the high-strung second-year receiver, not even for a single play.

Newton was among the 14 former Auburn players who got on the field during the 15 Sunday of the NFL’s 2015 season.

So, what next? Beckham will surely be fined by the NFL. A suspension is a possibility.

The Bengals meanwhile shrugged off the injury absence of quarterback Andy Dalton to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 24-14 in Santa Clara to secure their play-off berth. Seven of their eight losses have been by a total of 21 points, and six of them have been by four points or less.

On second-and-10 from the Giants’ 35-yard line, Newton ran for a 10-yard gain and spiked the ball to stop the clock with five seconds left in a tie game.
