Odion Ighalo makes admission over Watford future
Watford have issued a statement, stating clearly that Odion Ighalo, will not be sold “under any circumstances”, as the transfer window opens today.
However, Watford have established themselves well in their first season back in the Premier League and they sit ninth with 29 points at the halfway stage of the campaign. Ighalo might be the closest thing to Falcao in his prime that is even somewhat available on the transfer market this January.
And 24 minutes later, Ighalo showed strength and speed to level in the 41st minute but substitute Heung-Min Son struck a dramatic late victor to give Tottenham a 2-1 victory over 10-man Watford at Vicarage Road.
It has been reported he is a summer target to replace Jackson Martinez, who cost them £25m from FC Porto but has flopped.
He is now sitting on the third position on the goal scorers log for the season behind Jamie Vardy and Romelu Lukaku who have 15 goals each to their names.
Owner Gino Pozzo, however, is well aware that a growing number of high-profile clubs are keen on Ighalo – including Serie A’s Roma.
Manchester City have had an up-and-down season but they will see off the threat of Watford comfortably with the quality they have in the squad. What would be the value in selling Odion now and getting what £20m?
There is little doubt Kevin De Bruyne is one of the best playmakers in the Premier League and when he gets going there is very little opponents can do to stop him. “Odion doesn’t come in saying: ‘I want to leave.’ He’ll just keep doing what he’s doing”. Read his story here! You ‘ll last 30minutes+.
