In a statement released on Wednesday, Fox News said the spat started after Trump’s appearance on a Thursday episode of “The O’Reilly Factor” was canceled.
He went on to trash Fox host and contributors Charles Krauthammer, Megyn Kelly, and Rich Lowry.
Trump went on to say he is “having a really hard time” watching Fox News, the network which he publicly decried after host Megyn Kelly challenged him during the GOP’s first primary presidentialdebate.
Trump, who immediately attacked Lowry’s comments via Twitter, told MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough social media has allowed candidates to call out what they consider to be unfair portrayals in the media. Prior to the CNNpresidential debate, Trump had the gall to propose that the network donate to charity the proceeds of its broadcast – a proposal that he predicated on the idea that he himself would be driving insane ratings. “The press predictably jumped to cover his tweet, creating yet another distraction from any real issues that Mr. Trump might be questioned about”, the spokesperson said.
To imply otherwise as Donald Trump and his campaign operatives have is not only widely irresponsible, but downright freaky.
O’Reilly brushed off Trump’s during an appearance on NBC’s “Today” show Tuesday.
O’Reilly even promoted the upcoming Trump interview while appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, which was taped Monday evening.
The Guardian also reports that Trump was also affected when O’Reilly’s failed to cite a poll that showed how far along Trump has been doing.
For all the bickering between the current Republican front-runner and the Republican Party’s favorite news network, neither side appears any worse for wear.
“Moving onto Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, Trump remarked, ‘She’s become very shrill” recently. “Terrible show”. The calculus seems to be that by shunning Fox, Trump is hoping to drive a wedge between Fox hosts, Kelly, and Ailes.
But the truce was exceedingly fragile. The presidential hopeful has made some pretty strong statements in the past, but viewers of the popular network are wondering exactly how a candidate can boycott a network and still win.
