Office for Mac 2016 Now Available To 365 Subscribers
It’s available to subscribers of the “Home, Personal, Business, Business Premium, E3 or ProPlus” Office 365 plans, according to Microsoft’s announcement.
The new Office 2016 software brings new versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with redesigned Retina optimized interfaces, new features, and a focus on collaboration and cloud integration.
Microsoft plans regular updates and new features for Office 2016 for Mac, at least on a quarterly basis.
Office 2016 for Mac is available for all Office 365 subscribers users beginning today, and is officially supported on machines running the latest version of OS X, Yosemite.
Microsoft has just announced that its Office universal apps would be ready this month and would debut together with Windows 10 on July 29, thus providing users installing its new operating system with a quick way to work and manage their documents. Those looking for a perpetual, one-time purchase option, will have to wait till September 2015 to purchase it online or off the shelf. Students can also get Office 365 for free or for a deep discount.
The Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps are universal and designed for both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini.
Microsoft shared that Office for Mac will continue to be the subject of ongoing improvements over time.
Office 2016 for Mac is now available in 139 countries. Outlook contains a conversation view and threading (nothing really new where email is concerned, of course), and Excel will do a better job of recommending specific charts to showcase your data to best effect.
Aside of the visual overhaul, one of the key new features here is the Design tab, which lets you apply layouts, colors and fonts throughout your documents. Microsoft Office client applications and services team vice president Kirk Koenigsbauer said in a blog post Redmond received more than 100,000 feedback messages from Mac users during the beta test. All of the Office 2016 for Mac apps are now capable of going fullscreen. While the note-taking software has been available for Apple computers since past year, this is the first time it will be downloaded with the rest of the Office suite.
OneNote for Mac has a lot of the same features as the Windows version but requires an Internet connection to create new notebooks.
