Officer-Involved Shooting Reported in Reisterstown
A man who tried to use a forged prescription at a Baltimore-area drug store was fatally shot in a struggle with an officer Wednesday afternoon, police said.
“There was a confrontation behind these businesses and there were multiple shots fired”, Baltimore County police spokeswoman Elise Armacost said.
No other details were immediately available. “As a result of the shooting, the suspect has died”.
The man fled across Main St. from the Reisterstown Village shopping center’s Nature Care Pharmacy, police said.
A police officer chased the man on foot away from the pharmacy.
Police said in a statement that the shooting on Wednesday was recorded on surveillance footage from a nearby business, which shows that after falling to the ground he “refuses to comply and keeps reaching into his waistband, as if for a weapon”. Police said video shows the man “aggressively advancing on a single officer, who retreats with his gun drawn”.
The suspect was declared dead at the Northwest Hospital after being shot three times by the officer.
The officer was not hurt. Police officials plan to release the officer’s last name, rank and assignment in about two days. Witnesses reported the officer told the man to stop, police said.
