Officers will be out in full force this Thanksgiving weekend
CHP Newhall will be patrolling in full force over Thanksgiving as part of a maximum enforcement period across the state to prevent tragedies for California motorists.
The National Safety Council estimates 433 people will be killed across the USA during the Thanksgiving holiday period – from Wednesday through Sunday and another 52,300 will be seriously injured in wrecks. As motorists prepare for travel, troopers are reminding drivers to avoid distractions, obey speed limits and stay rested and alert.

Many North Carolinians will be traveling to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday and North Carolina troopers are encouraging everyone to be safe on the highways. “Nearly half the people who died in the CHP’s jurisdiction over Thanksgiving past year were not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision”. “They will also be out taking aggressive enforcement action on any type of risky driving and any type of alcohol or drug use while operating vehicles”.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol holiday traffic safety campaign begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday and runs through midnight Sunday.

State police are ramping up plans to keep highways safe for the holiday rush this week. Overall, traffic deaths are up 12 percent statewide compared to this time past year.
In Kentucky, six fatal crashes occurred during the 2014 Thanksgiving driving season, according to the state’s 2014 Traffic Collision Facts report.
