Officials identify 22-year-old New York City man who drowned at Jersey Shore
A Yonkers man drowned Saturday while swimming with friends at the Jersey shore.
Crimmins, 22, of Yonkers, N.Y., was found unresponsive in the ocean off of Strickland Avenue in Bay Head. Lifeguards at the beach called 911.
The town’s only guarded beaches fall under the ownership of the Mantoloking Beach Association, a private organization that sells its own badges for an additional fee.
A massive search for the unidentified man began after he disappeared from sight at around 2:35 p.m., according to the Asbury Park Press.
Crimmins’ death is under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI and Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office. The man’s body was found by lifeguards just after 3 p.m. They gave him CPR and transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
