Officials Say Trump’s ‘Uncomfortable’ Visit to CIA Made Relationship With Agency Worse
Ideal example: The Wall Street Journal had a splashy report out last night claiming that Mike Flynn, America’s new national security advisor, has been investigated by USA counterintelligence for his communications with Russian officials. He added: “Maybe we’ll have another chance”. Or we can’t trust either. “They made it sound like I had a feud with the intelligence community”.
While at the CIA, Trump also blasted media coverage of his inauguration on Friday – a protest angrily echoed later by press secretary Sean Spicer, who accused reporters of deliberate “false reporting” of attendance and interest in Trump’s swearing-in. “They are among the most dishonest human beings on Earth”, Trump said. An insider says around 40 people were invited by Trump, VP Mike Pence, and Representative Mike Pompeo.
The CIA’s senior leadership was reportedly close to the front, but did not cheer the president’s speech, which included his declared love for the CIA. “If you listen to the audio, you can hear the excitement that exists there”, Spicer said. Of course not. That’s stupid. Trump’s own words undercut that assertion. So, which side is gaslighting more aggressively here?
Citing an unnamed official, the article said, “It is the assessment of the intelligence community that Russia’s goal here was to favor one candidate over the other, to help Trump get elected”. But they always blame Russian Federation. Whether or not they have his backing, John isn’t happy that Trump spent so much of his speech in front of a wall honoring the dead talking about his disdain for the media and how impressive the crowds were at his inauguration. We have so many problems that are interrelated to the kind of havoc and fear that the sick group of people has caused.
It was not certain whether Mr Trump’s visit did much to fix the morale of an agency that strives to avoid any hints of partisanship and is unnerved by his repeated charges that it was trying to damage him. “We’re all on the same wavelength”, he said.
Claimed to “know a lot about West Point”, that his uncle was a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and “I’m a person that very strongly believes in academics…”
“Absent, however, are what Ignatius finds to be “the more disturbing part of his address: “[Trump’s] attempt to treat agency employees, whose mission is supposed to transcend elections, as political soul mates, along with military and law enforcement”.
“I don’t think he has a full appreciation of Russian capabilities, Russia’s intentions and actions”, Mr Brennan had said of Mr Trump.
On Sunday, January 22, Trump’s counselor Kellyanne Conway criticized Brennan for his remarks about the president’s speech at the CIA, calling the former intelligence leader a “partisan political hack”.
The crowd laughed when Trump said he’s a “smart person” who recognizes similar qualities in his nominee for Central Intelligence Agency director.
This is kind of amusing, though.
He never told them to sit…
“There is nobody that feels stronger about the intelligence community and the C.I.A. than Donald Trump”, he said, to ecstatic whooping and clapping in the original headquarters building lobby. Hundreds of protesters lined the motorcade route as Trump sped back to the White House, many screaming and chanting at the president. He said heaven had chosen to drench others, but not him. His Senate confirmation was stalled by Democrats last week.
