Ohio man mistakes teen son for intruder, kills him
A Cincinnati teen was shot and killed by his father Tuesday morning, according to police.
The man says he heard a noise downstairs and fired with a handgun when the boy “scared” him. “Oh, God. Get here quick!” Isaac says the man retrieved what appeared to be a firearm from his waistband and was shot, dying at the scene. After initially telling the 911 dispatcher the boy was hit in the chest, he then said it was in the neck.
The teen died shortly after he was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in “extreme critical condition”, they said. Police Lt. Steve Saunders said the father is being interviewed by police.
Police have not said whether any charges will be filed.
Police didn’t immediately release the man’s name.
Eliot, whose city has made reducing gun violence a top priority for 2016, said the shooting underscored some important messages.
Isaac says officers confronted Tenbrink Monday night soon after two area stores reported robberies.
