Ohio pastor shot, killed during Sunday services
Schooler was killled Sunday in a shooting inside St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church.
The Rev. William. B Schooler, pastor of St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church, was a well-known Dayton community leader.
Authorities have confirmed the shooting and note that there were approximately 20 people in the small church at the time of the shooting and that a suspect, the pastor’s brother Daniel, has been taken into custody.
In yet another case of church shooting in the United States, a pastor at a baptist church was shot dead in front of several attendees on Sunday morning.
In Detroit last October, a man with a brick went after the pastor of the City of God storefront church, but the pastor pulled out a semi-automatic pistol and shot the man dead, police said.
According to witnesses, the alleged shooter is the pastor’s brother, 69-year-old Daniel Gregory Schooler.
The shooter is believed to be Schooler’s brother and police are investigating a possible motive.
“He had deep roots in the community”, a friend, Ronnie Moreland, told the newspaper. To date an official statement has yet to be released.
He has been arrested in connection with the shooting and is now booked into the Montgomery County Jail facing murder charges.
In May 2002, Schooler attacked a 27-year-old woman at a home on Lorenz Avenue, according to a Dayton police report.
The victim said Schooler began pacing and was acting odd and then struck her, knocking her unconscious. The victim claimed the assault lasted 40 minutes and said she suffered cuts, contusions and other injuries.
