Ohio’s GOP officeholders back Trump with faint enthusiasm
Trump addressed welfare abuse, using the same talking points as Clinton did.
As millions of Americans prepare to celebrate Labor Day with one last summer vacation, both the Democratic and Republican Presidential candidates are eager to examine their strategy for November’s general election.
Questions about Clinton’s honesty and trustworthiness have dogged her throughout the campaign and she can ill afford to have more voters view her in a negative way.
It’s not just talk.
Most young people oppose deporting all immigrants who are in the country illegally, though that’s something almost half of young whites say they support. The survey included 800 likely Virginia voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percent.
Privately, Republican leaders say it will take more than strong debates for their nominee to alter a race that appears to be leaning in Clinton’s favor. That’s bad news for Trump, whose standing among blacks and Hispanic voters is historically bad.
Trump has been featuring parents whose children have been killed by people living in the US illegally at his events to try to underscore the risk they pose. They would have to return to their home countries and apply for legal entry should they wish to return.
“I’m anxious literally to death now that because Donald Trump is so visceral that they’ll think that Latinos will turn out because of that alone”, said Chuck Rocha, President Solidarity Strategies, a Latino political consulting firm.
He also said Trump’s assertions that he would treat every immigrant in a very humane way were a lie.
In an immigration speech that Trump delivered in Phoenix right after visiting Mexico, the candidate said illegal immigrants who want US citizenship will need to leave the country and head to the back of the line in their home countries, the Associated Press reported. Make Mexico pay for it. He would also add 5,000 border patrol agents and expand the number of border patrol stations. “God knows we have hardly any insight into watching her being able to get in or out of vehicles or planes”. She prefers relying on technology and more border patrol agents to ensure the border is secure. Clinton would offer a path to citizenship for immigrants in the country illegally and defend President Barack Obama’s executive orders that defer enforcement action against children. A deadlocked Supreme Court decision in June blocked his order, but Clinton insists that such actions are within the president’s authority.
But so far, no leading Democrats have come out and said they will not vote for her.
Amoore said: “You are the man”, and thanked him for “coming to the ‘hood”.
Despite Democrats efforts to link Blum to Trump with digital advertising earlier this summer, Blum now leads Monica Vernon in polling done earlier this month by 7 points according to his campaign’s internal polling.
Leslie Sanchez, a CBSN contributor, stated, “Hispanic leader who advises Trump camp telling me half of Trump’s Hispanic advisory board is ready to resign today (15 of 30)”, on her Twitter account. Critics have likened that piece of the plan to Mitt Romney’s widely panned call for “self-deportation”.
And as the two rivals get ready for their first presidential debate on September 26, Clinton is said to be preparing like a seasoned lawyer with briefing books and rehearsals.
But Kuharich still backs her, saying she did not do anything illegal and is a role model for young women like herself.
Generally speaking, if Clinton is successful in replicating the Obama coalition – her advisers’ clearly-stated priority – it would put tremendous pressure on Trump to run up his numbers among whites to levels no candidate has reached since Reagan’s 1984 landslide.
Still, Trump’s campaign told AP the candidate “has been consistent in advocating for an end to illegal immigration”.
Cassidy said it’s the president who sets the tone.
TRUMP: Like many Republicans, he vows to crack down on so-called sanctuary cities that shield residents from federal immigration authorities.
He said Hightower’s is “a awful story, but it’s a story a lot of people are going through”.
Support for Democrat Clinton has dropped steadily in recent weeks, with an eight-point lead in the poll now erased.
