Ohio State adds pair of 5-star WRs to Class of ’17
Grimes selected Ohio State over Florida, Florida State and Miami (FL).
The #1 recruiting class in the nation just got a lot better today when newly minted 5-star recruit, Tyjon Lindsey and fellow 5-star receiver Trevon Grimes made a decision to pick the Ohio State Buckeyes as their college of choice via a video posted to Bleacher Report. Michigan State (16, 3.25) is No. 16, according to Scout, third in the Big Ten.
Grimes is joined by a fellow five-star in Las Vegas Bishop Gorman receiver Tyjon Lindsey, who was in the video with Grimes as captains of opposing dodgeball teams.
Down to a final nine with Alabama, Auburn, Nebraska, Ohio State and OR as his five “leaders,” Lindsey set a decision date for Monday (August 22) earlier this summer and stuck to the plan. “That’s where my family is”, Lindsey told MaxPreps. Martell welcomed his classmates to the family shortly after the announcement. They certainly will elevate an OSU class, which now numbers 18 commitments and which analysts already were ranking as one of the top four for 2017. The 5-foot-9-inch, 175-pound standout had 45 receptions for 1,117 yards and 14 touchdowns last season and was a first-team all-state selection by the Review-Journal, helping the Gaels to their second straight mythical national championship.
Following the news that Lindsey and Grimes were headed to Columbus, their future quarterback, Tate Martell, took to social media to share his excitement for what’s to come.
From the very beginning of the Tyjon Lindsey-Tate Martell recruiting saga, the two former teammates, close friends and five-star prospects always said they wanted to play college football together.
