Ohio State DT Adolphus Washington cited for solicitation
Defensive lineman for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Adolphus Washington, faces first-degree misdemeanor charges of solicitation.
Washington, who has a court date set for December 17, told his fans that he’s disappointed in himself and he plans on learning from the mistake.
Ohio State coach Urban Meyer is now out on recruiting visits and will address Washington’s punishment when he returns to campus.
Washington, a senior, has received several accolades for his skills on the field and helped lead Cincinnati’s Taft High School to the state playoffs in 2011. He was a prized recruit that really saved Ohio State’s recruiting class after the scandal that led to Jim Tressel’s resignation seemingly left the program in shambles. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound totaled 49 tackles, seven tackles for loss and four sacks on the season.
He is projected to be an early-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Ohio State is scheduled to play Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl on January 1, but the citation may put Washington’s status for the game in doubt.
