Ohio State suspends Bosa, Marshall, 2 others for opener
Ohio State coach Urban Meyer will answer questions at a press conference at 2:30 p.m. (ET) today.
Senior receiver Corey Smith and junior H-back Dontre Wilson are the other two players.
Without Marshall and Wilson – who split time at H-Back last season and were the third and fourth leading receivers for Ohio State, respectively – the Buckeyes might have to look to former quarterback Braxton Miller to step into a big role faster than anticipated.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that Bosa is among four Ohio State players who have been suspended for an unspecified violation of athletic department policy. He totaled 55 tackles, 13.5 sacks and four forced fumbles for the Buckeyes. Marshall then rose to become a go-to player at certain points the run to the national title as well as serving at the punt returner. He added 25 carries for 154 yards and another score. Smith had 20 catches for 255 yards. He transferred to Ohio State from East Mississippi Community College, where he was part of an NJCAA championship team in 2013. Wilson was second in all-purpose yards with 1,064 and averaged 106.4 yards per game. He suffered a season-ending foot injury against Michigan State last year and missed the spring. Already the defending national champions on the field, the Buckeyes have now also moved to the front of the pack on the recruiting trail.
The announcement came before the start of Big Ten Media Days at the Hyatt McCormick Place in Chicago.
