Ohio State suspends wide receiver Torrance Gibson
“I disagree with it”.
Unlike suspensions handed down by the athletics department or the football team itself, the decision was made by members of university staff. Gibson is said to have broken guidelines in the university student code of conduct according to an OSU spokesperson.
Though their top three receivers from 2015 are off to the National Football League, the Buckeyes have plenty of talent at the wideout position even without Gibson.
While transitioning from highly touted high school prep quarterback to wide receiver, Gibson sat out his freshman season.
OSU opens up its season on Saturday at home against Bowling Green. His dynamic athleticism and size suited wide receiver.
Jesse Ertz, who started K-State’s season opener previous year only to suffer a season-ending torn ACL on the first play of the game, will get the nod for the Wildcats’ opener at Stanford on Friday.
Meanwhile, count Meyer as one who is supportive of Tim Tebow’s effort to play professional baseball. The position change has given Gibson troubles at times, and he has already been suspended for a game during his redshirt season a year ago.
Meyer said he’s dealt with similar situations in the past, but did not elaborate. I went and watched him play in spring baseball.
When asked about appealing the suspension, or what actions he should take, Meyer simply replied “I don’t know”.
