Oilers’ Connor McDavid scores first National Hockey League goal

DALLAS (AP) – Jason Spezza scored three goals, including the tiebreaker late in the third period, and the Dallas Stars spoiled Connor McDavid’s first National Hockey League goal with a 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night.
Roman Josi had a power-play goal in the first period and added a short-handed empty netter in the third.
Edmonton: Andrej Sekera blasted a shot from the left point that Connor McDavid tipped past Lehtonen at the 12:18 mark of the second period. Dallas has a few former Oilers on the roster as Shawn Horcoff and Ales Hemsky will face off against their old team but the Oilers counter with Nilsson who played as a backup for the Stars before his move north and he will certainly be playing with a chip on his shoulder.

After posting one of the more impressive opening wins of the young season, the Dallas Stars came crashing back to earth by allowing five unanswered goals in a 6-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

Edmonton: Oilers defenseman Oscar Klefbom blasted a shot from the left point, and the puck deflected off of Stars center Vernon Fiddler and past Kari Lehtonen at the 10:55 mark of the second period.
The quick scoring burst ended a 90-minute home scoreless streak to start the season for the Stars, who got a shutout from Niemi in the season opener.
Elias Lindholm scored for Carolina in the second period, and Eddie Lack made 22 saves in his first start of the season. He had three shots in 16 minutes.
