Okafor also involved in October nightclub incident

A man told police yesterday that he had been punched and pushed at about 2 a.m. Thursday outside the Storyville Nightclub by a man “believed to be Okafor”, police said. Jahlil was heard screaming at the other man, saying, “We got money you broke ass n****”.

The 76ers told the Associated Press they are gathering information and declined further comment.

The 76ers are now 0-16 for the season, and combined with 10 straight losses previous year now have a share of the record for the worst string of defeats in history. Okafor had 19 points and nine rebounds in the game, and, according to TMZ, the fight began when someone heckled him about the Sixers, who are winless in 16 games.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman confirmed the report. The team travels to play the Houston Rockets on Friday, where it is unclear if Okafor will play.

The 76ers also released a statement about the incident stating, “we are aware of the report and we are now working to gather additional information”.

The Sixers lost to the Celtics Wednesday night at TD Garden. “You’re so close to getting that first W. There’s couple of plays that you’ve got to sleep on”, referring to his team’s inability to close out games like the one Wednesday night.

A video reported to show the assault was obtained and put online by TMZ on Thursday, showing 37 seconds of fighting.

It is unclear what happened to Okafor or his associate after the incident or if they were interviewed by U.S. Park Rangers or PPD.
