Oklahoma Destroys OSU 58-23
Oklahoma manhandled Oklahoma State 58-23 on Saturday to clinch the Big 12, and now Bob Stoops’s team appears to be a lock for the playoff.
One way or another, “Bedlam 2015” will determine the Big 12 Champion and possibly the conference’s College Football Playoff (CFP) representation.
“We’ll try to stay focused on the task at hand”, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. The Sooners mercilessly poured it on in that second quarter and then never let the Pokes feel like they were back in it. This team had to make a lasting impression on the College Football Playoff committee, and it did that with this dominant victory. It will be interesting to see if their one-sided victory at OSU will prompt any movement for them when that poll is released on Tuesday night. Saturday was the ninth straight game without an off week. He has made numerous electrifying plays scrambling, and that puts him at risk. Mayfield probably needed a bigger day through the air to overtake Alabama’s Derrick Henry in the Heisman race. “I signed up for football”.
“I knew we had some quarterbacks”.
Following the Texas loss, Oklahoma responded with a vengeance. going on a seven-game seize-and-destroy mission, obliterating every opponent that crossed its path and completing a ideal run to the conference championship, with even higher aspirations still out there for the taking. Being up just 14-10 at the end of the first, Oklahoma outscored Oklahoma State 30-10 in the second, behind touchdown runs from both Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon, but also a pick-six from Justin Thomas as well. Ohio State has a solid case, with its only loss coming on a last-second field goal to a playoff contender. Last year Oklahoma State won 38-35 in the matchup in overtime and in that game Perine was knocked out with a sprained ankle.
When they weren’t running it, the Sooners found success throwing the ball, especially to Sterling Shepard who had 10 catches for 87 yards and a touchdown. “If he has a setback in any way with the protocol and the testing that our doctors and trainers do, he will not”.
OU and the Big 12 got very good news midway through the third quarter. It was the Sooners’ fifth win out of their last six visits to Stillwater. He will face his toughest challenge yet – Oklahoma’ defense leads the Big 12 in most categories, including interceptions and sacks.
The first half was rough on Ross, who was down on the turf for several minutes after being tackled on a 90-yard kickoff return.
Oklahoma can be this year’s Ohio State.
As the clock ticked passed 11 p.m. Saturday, players admitted they need a break.
The most remarkable aspect of the story, however, is the transformation Oklahoma made after its inexplicable loss to Texas back on October 10.
