Oklahoma favored on road at Oklahoma State
Clemson, Alabama, and Iowa make up three of the Top 4 of the the rankings this week with Oklahoma a surprise inclusion at No. 3.
If the games don’t provide enough drama, the sport’s propaganda machine is humming with full force every Tuesday night when the College Football Playoff selection committee announces its weekly rankings.
Temple joined West Division leader Navy as the only two AAC teams in the College Football Playoff rankings.
Should be an exciting week in which most teams will be ending their regular season. It seems all the Sooners have to do now is take care of No. 11 Oklahoma State in Stillwater this weekend and they’re in. Clemson and Alabama occupied the first two spots. The clubs have not met as ranked opponents since 2012 and have not clashed as top ten opponents since their classic 1-vs-2 contest in 2006.
Notre Dame’s biggest win, in the eyes of the committee, may be its only loss, by two points to No. 1 Clemson on the road in a monsoon. 5 and 6, respectively.
This really is the college football version of braketology.
Baylor, which is No. 8, and MI, slotted at No. 10, are the other two teams in the top 10.
The selection committee will release one more ranking before its final ballot on December 6 determines the playoff field.
The Sooners jumped to No. 3 from No. 7 in the latest CFP Rankings. I dogged you last week, but this time around you did exactly what you’re supposed to do and got all over Florida for that game against FAU, and you correctly punished Notre Dame for looking bad at times in the win over Boston College. Oklahoma, MI State and Iowa all control their Playoff destiny should they win their conference championship games.
The Alabama Crimson Tide is the only SEC team represented in the top 10.
An Oklahoma loss and a Notre Dame loss could leave Baylor (9-1) and Stanford (9-2) vying for the last playoff spot as conference champions.
It also appears that the Big XII will not be left out of the playoff, after the league’s controversial absence in last year’s bracket.
The Sooners (9-1) and Hawkeyes (10-0) fall in at Nos.
Iowa and Oklahoma both rose into the top four, but OU moved to No. 3.
Iowa fans? You now have the team to beat in the Big Ten. The MI State Spartans finally took down Goliath and the rest of the conference, and nation, was likely thankful.
Notre Dame would be in the role of Ohio State this season, but it’s not quite the same.
Coming in third in the rankings are the defending champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes. There might not be a more improved or impressive team in the country right now than MI State, who has road wins over Ohio State, MI and a Week 2 victory over Oregon.
Iowa (11-0) moves up to the No. 4 spot following a 40-20 win over Purdue. Keep that resume built up for the Big Ten Championship.
Oklahoma, MI State, Florida, Baylor, and others, as well. Beating the Seminoles in convincing fashion wouldn’t automatically get Florida into the playoff, but it would serve as a great prelude to the SEC Championship Game, where Florida could cement its playoff candidacy. And if North Carolina somehow win the ACC? After being gutted early in conference play following injuries to defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes and linebacker Myles Jack, Brown saw signs of progress in the 17-9 win at Utah on Saturday.
