Ole Miss DT Denzel Nkemdiche hospitalized in ICU
RebelGrove.com reported Wednesday night that Nkemdiche was admitted to Baptist Memorial Hospital where is in the intensive care unit. There has been no reason given for the hospitalization. Hospitals can remove patients’ names from public registry to protect the privacy of their patients. He has started 9 of the team’s 10 games and is the older brother of the Rebels’ top defensive prospect, defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche. The report stated that Nkemdiche was found the next day and taken to the hospital, though it did not indicate exactly where or in what condition Nkemdiche was found. The story did say that Nkemdiche was conscious as of Wednesday.
Nkemdiche is the Rebels’ leading tackler on the season with 53 total tackles (6.5 for loss) from his middle linebacker position.
Dr. Nkemdiche said Thursday that Denzel was “up and talking”.
No. 22 Ole Miss (7-3, 4-2 SEC) hosts No. 15 LSU (7-2, 4-2) in a key SEC West showdown at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford. He appeared in all 13 games as a true freshman, playing on special teams and as a backup linebacker, and had 13 tackles and one forced fumble. I think he ready for this challenge.
“We are going to walk through it with him”, Freeze said.
