Ole Miss suspends Robert Nkemdiche, DL turns pro
Ole Miss will be without All-American defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche for the Sugar Bowl, the Ole Miss Spirit is reporting.
Nkemdiche posted a short video of him hitting the notes on the sax and from the naked eye looks like he’s healthy enough to play a football game, which is rather shocking considering the circumstances stemming from his fall out of a hotel window and falling 15 feet after trying to climb over a wall.
“I look forward to sharing with National Football League general managers and scouts what a unique and talented individual [Nkemdiche] is”, said Freeze. Robert has made an immeasurable impact on our program, and we are forever indebted to him. Instead, it appears, Nkemdiche will skip New Orleans and the Sugar Bowl entirely and go to Miami with his oldest brother, Bryan, before beginning NFL Draft prep. Thus, Nkemdiche’s Ole Miss career is over. The Ole Miss standout is expected to be a top-five pick in the draft. Nkemdiche, in a statement, has informed fans that he’s ready for the “next phase” of his life.
No. 12 Ole Miss (9-3, 6-2 SEC) can also use junior D.J. Jones, a juco transfer, at defensive tackle against No. 16 Oklahoma State (10-2, 7-2). “I want to thank my coaches, my teammates and Rebel Nation for their support these past three years, and I look forward to making them proud for years to come”.
Robert Nkemdiche will reportedly miss the Sugar Bowl. Denzel hasn’t played since he became ill and spent time in the ICU last month.
