Oliseh, Enyeama face-off deepens in Belgium
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oliseh, in the wake of the squabble, had stripped Enyeama of the team’s captaincy and handed it to Ahmed Musa.
The Lille keeper arrived camp after Monday’s deadline, having been reportedly permitted to report late following Saturday’s burial of his mother in AkwaIbom.
“He has done the right thing, but in a wrong way; he will get a wrong result”.
The source claimed that Sunday Oliseh was so furious that he threatened to work out of the Eagles camp if Enyeama does not leave camp.
The altercations we learnt has dampened the high spirit of players in camp and may affect the performance of the team against Congo in the friendly tomorrow. If the coach feels strongly about the team captain not needed in the team, he should not invite him for matches. Three days before the game, it was reported that a few of the players were complaining of the strenuous training he gave them.
Already, Enyeama has expressed regrets on the social media about his 13 years of service to the national team following the squabble with the Eagles’ Head Coach. “But no matter what, the coach will always think of what is best for him as regards the team”.
“I want to say thank you to our state governor His Excellency Mr Udom Emmanuel, who took out time from his busy schedule to come and be with me and my family”, Enyeama wrote on Instagram. For Nigeria going forward, I need a player who is regular in the team and it is Ahmed Musa, who did a great job in Tanzania under very hard circumstances.
“I will take anything but not insult to my dead mother.” he added.
