Oliver suffers Diamond Race setback, Fraser-Pryce wins
The 28-year-old had said she would concentrate on the 100m and 4x100m relay at the worlds but at a news conference on the eve of the Stockholm Diamond League meeting she said her coach Steven Francis had indicated she could still compete in both.

“I did a few good jumps and I wasn’t too far from winning”, said the Qatari.

Schwanitz will win the shot put discipline in the Diamond League rankings if she contests the finals in Zurich on September 2.
The Olympic sixth-placer explained that he was clear to represent Spain in competitions but would not be able to participate in the World Championships in Beijing next month.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce warmed up for the world championships with a dominant win in the women’s 100 meters on a cool evening at the Stockholm Diamond League meet on Thursday.
Although her winning mark was 0.19 seconda shy of the world leading time she set in Paris, the season’s reigning world and Olympic champion is satisfied with her performance. The time was not what I wanted but I’m grateful I came out here and did my best.
Qatar’s world indoor high jump champion, who became the second best ever with a clearance of 2.43m last year and sailed over 2.41 in Eugene last month, only managed 2.29 here as he lost to JaCorian Duffield.
World 100 metres hurdle champion David Oliver was also below par as the 33-year-old American was outraced by the 24-year-old Orlando Ortega although the 13.18 second winning time was well adrift of Ortega’s season best of 12.94 seconds. It’s two points so they are really important for me.
“It just did not go my way today”.
“For now, though, my world championship is the Diamond Race; that would be my gold medal for the year”.
