One change the Tennessee Titans should make: defense
Ryan Succop and the field goal unit came onto the field… and Succop yanked the 53-yard try.
On the ensuing series, Titans tight end Phillip Supernaw was stripped of the football after a catch.
The mission now is clear: Keep doing what they’ve been doing, which means continuing to make big plays at key times.
There was one final chance for the Titans to turn it around as quarterback Marcus Mariota got them up to the 23-yard line with five seconds still on the clock. Bortles then drove the Jaguars 84 yards – completing 4 of 6 passes for 74 yards – and hooked up with receiver Allen Hurns for a 31-yard touchdown with 2:16 to play.
Punter Bryan Anger had a very solid night on Thursday. The lone bright spot was that Myers kicked a career-high four field goals.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It hasn’t been pretty, and they’ve gotten some help from a couple of questionable penalties, but the Jacksonville Jaguars have won three of their past four games by making big plays in the fourth quarter. However, the drive again stalled there, thanks in large part to uninspired play-calling. Second, with so little time left, it doesn’t matter that you would be giving the ball to Jacksonville in field goal range by not converting on fourth down.
It was more of the same in the third quarter. Slowed by an ankle injury earlier this season, free agent tight end Julius Thomas is now starting paying dividends in the red zone. Those are redzone field goals that could have led to touchdown scores with the right plays. When it’s been since December 2013 since this franchise won consecutive games, perhaps there will be a bit of Jaguars fever brewing in north Florida.
Blake Bortles and Marcus Mariota are similar in the fact that both were top-three picks in their respective drafts – Bortles went No. 3 in 2014, Mariota No. 2 in 2015 – but they’re not really linked together. Greene had shown promise in the first two games and that continued on Thursday in his first game back.
Odrick provided needed penetration as the defense played its first game since standout defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks suffered a season-ending triceps injury against the Ravens.
For much of the night it looked as if Mularkey would celebrate a rare win in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville’s best chance to reach the end zone came late in the half.
Now the Jaguars get to wait to see how good things are looking for them. Theoretically, they could both lose their Weeks 11 and 12 matchups against the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints for the Texans and against the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Indy.
Simbal says that while this NFL Thursday game doesn’t have big-name appeal it will be the most popular bet on the board, drawing two times the action that Thursday’s National Basketball Association showdown between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers will. “We always take a lot of Warriors money, because of who they are and people will just bet them blindly”. After a solid game this Thursday night by Blake Bortles and company, the Jags are a half game behind co leaders Houston and Indianapolis.
The Tennessee Titans should be at a minimum of five wins this season.
Stay tuned, coming up will be a list of candidates the Tennessee Titans must look at for the head coaching position in 2016.
