A Des Moines Register poll showed Clinton ahead in Iowa by two points, but a Quinnipiac poll showed Sanders up five points among likely cacusgoers in the state. After spending weeks mostly slamming Sanders for his stance on guns, Clinton and her aides are expanding their critique of the senator to include health care.
Some Clinton supporters say a tough challenge from Sanders and a longer primary than initially expected could ultimately work to her advantage.
“Whatever I say about Hillary’s plan, you are entitled to give it the love discount if you want”, said the former president.
“We were very surprised today to see that Bernie Sanders had launched a negative television advertisement against Hillary”, Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook said in a press call Thursday.
“Absolutely”, Sanders said. “If I said we’re going to do it that’s what we’re going to do”.
In 2008, of course, the group endorsed now-president Obama after he won a less impressive 70 percent of the support of its members. “Now, if that is the revolution he is talking about, I am anxious, folks”, Clinton said at a campaign event Tuesday in Iowa.
