One dead, multiple injured in Kentucky high school shooting
A 16-year-old male suspect was apprehended, but no motive has been provided for that shooting either, leaving two communities reeling from violence and looking for answers.
The shooter will be charged with murder and attempted murder, Kentucky State Police Lt. Michael Webb said.
“To walk in, the backpacks laying around, the phones laying around, going off.it’s indescribable”, Marshall County Attorney Jeffrey Edwards said. The victims include a 15-year-old girl, pronounced dead at the high school, and a 15-year-old boy, who died at a hospital.
The wounded are being treated at a nearby hospital.
Gov. Matt Bevin confirmed the shooting on Twitter and asked that people do not “speculate or spread hearsay”.
“(They) ensured that this was not a more painful incident than what has occurred”, Bevin said.
The investigation will include looking into the teen’s home life, along with interviews with student witnesses and others in the are when it happened. He would not confirm the identity of the shooter or the status of any of the victims.
Police have identified two teenagers who were killed in a school shooting in rural Kentucky. “I saw the flashes from the gunshots and by that time I was just running”, he said. I seen my good friends, they got shot.
WPSD reports that a heavy police presence and ambulances are on the scene. Officers in black fatigues carrying assault rifles showed up as well.
Five female and 13 male students 14 to 18 years old were also injured.
The roads are backed up to the middle school, some parents have reportedly been waiting since 9:30 a.m.to pick up their child.

The shooting started just minutes after the suspect arrived to school, according to a police official. She said she never would’ve thought this would happen here.
“It sounded like there was a fight, someone was hitting on the window I took out my headphones and turned around and everyone was just broken up they were running”. “It sounded like his heart was in his throat”. “I’m still shaking”, he said. While we would not want to be in this position, or this community or town would want to be in this position.
