One Dead, One Injured after shooting at Texas Southern University Campus
Police also said that two people had been detained in relation to the shooting, but that they did not now know the motive.
The university said it would increase police on campus. A third suspect, who is still on the run, is a 20 to 25 year old black male, around 6 feet tall.
Police spokeswoman Jodi Silva said Friday evening that neither man has been arrested or charged in the shooting, which killed a male student and injured another person.
“I wish he was still here”, Rudley said.
“This is becoming too regular”, he said. “I talk to students and they say guns can be bought for $1-300 dollars”.
Rudley said the Texas Southern student who was killed was in his first year.
The incident is the third shooting near the TSU campus in the past two months, the outlet reported. Police are now looking to see if the shootings Friday are related.
One person is dead and another is injured after a shooting near Texas Southern University on Friday morning.
The Houston Police Department has identified Brent Demond Randall, 18, (freshman) as the victim of the shooting at TSU Friday.
The Texas Southern University shooting happened at the Courtyard Apartments on Blodgett Street near Canfield around 11:30 a.m., according to Click2Houston.
Two suspects have been taken into custody, the school said. Police and emergency vehicles were at the scene, though no additional details were available.
The shooting occurred in a parking lot just outside Mountain View Hall dormitory on the Flagstaff campus, which provides housing for numerous campus’ sororities and fraternities. On Tuesday night, one person was shot and wounded on campus.
The campus is in the heart of the city, so it is unclear whether or not the shooting involved students, the spokesperson said.
