One dead, two injured in early Sunday shooting in Kansas City
Police said the victim that died has been identified as 30-year-old Mariana Hernandez -Gonzales of Kansas City.
Jeffries was a former Oklahoma State University standout basketball player. Jeffries and another member of security tried to break up the fight and remove those involved from the club.
The death comes as Kansas City has seen a spike in homicides during the last several weeks, compared with last year’s-record-low homicide rate.
Kansas City police say one person is dead and six children were critically injured in a auto accident that happened in the midst of a gunfight.
The incidents occurred about 12:30 a.m. near 57th Street and Troost Avenue.
Another man who works at the bar was transported to a hospital, and a short time later a woman showed up at a hospital to be treated.
The suspect was able to escape the scene, police say.
