One Direction And Taylor Swift Lead The Winners At American Music Awards
Some of the big winners at the AMAs didn’t attend Sunday – a growing trend at music awards show. Her ex-boyfriend Diddy even gave her a flirtatious shout-out while presenting an award during the show. While JLo wiggled her butt to the song, Minaj sat in the audience, stone-faced.
Dion sang Edith Piaf’s classic French ode Hymne à l’amour in memory of those lost in the terror attacks on Paris.
Bieber ended his performance drenched as heavy rain pelted him on stage while he performed his final hit Sorry.
And the appearance of Justin Bieber?
Also on Sunday, Billboard released its new Top 200 chart, which featured Bieber’s “Purpose” in the No. 1 slot and One Direction’s “Made in the A.M.” as runner-up. Blake Shelton’s new lady love performed her new song “Used to Love You” in the program proper, a song that is rumored to be about her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale.
The Weeknd set the stage on real fire for his performance of “The Hills“, while Coldplay brought out dancing monkeys on a psychedelic stage for “Adventure of a Lifetime“, and Walk The Moon started a dance party with their hit “Shut Up And Dance”. And there were Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth sharing an uncomfortably intimate onstage kiss that dared you to look away. Shortly after the performance, speculation of the two being a couple began to emerge. And Jared Leto’s powerful introduction to the number had everyone in tears. He spoke about the senseless killing of more than 100 people, many more critically injured, just over a week ago and how it forever changed Paris.
“France matters, Syria matters, Russian Federation matters, Mali matters, the Middle East matters, the entire world matters and peace is possible”.
One Direction is nominated for artist of the year, pitting the group against Grande, Bryan, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.
Singer Ciara was draped in black beads and not much else (except maybe sex appeal) in this dress by Reem Acra. She then thanked music producer Harvey Mason Jr “for not telling anyone about that hooker we buried”, before giving her final shout-out to executive producers Julianne Jordan and Julia Michaels, exclaiming: “I don’t like you at all!”
Harrison Ford introduced the a Capella group as they shared the stage with a 75-piece orchestra to praise John Williams.
However, the small hiccup didn’t stop the dancers from giving it their all, and the show went on to the cheers of the star-studded crowd. The harmonizing of the score was incredible and the band was all decked out in Force-inspired gear.
