One Direction, “Made in the AM” releases satisfying 5th album
It was a tempestuous year for One Direction fans worldwide in 2015. “If tomorrow you won’t be mine / Won’t you give it to me one last time”. “Made in the A.M.” is an ending and a goodbye of a few sorts but it’s also a reminder that this is not the end of music for them. But like the visual signs of maturity we would watch the group go through, 1D’s sound experienced an awkward, pimply stage before suddenly sprouting chest hair on 2013’s Midnight Memories. After all, a song just isn’t “thick enough without Louis”. “I love love love the sound of this album (sic)”. “That’s probably why we’re so proud of it”. “It’s basically about all the late-night conversations and laughs you have sitting around at 5 a.m. talking crap”, Horan, 22, says. Styles croons the lyrics with wistfully, “Summer time / Butterflies / All belong to your creation / I love you / It’s all I do”, while Tomlinson comes in at counterpoint with a strong vocal performance. And even if they do reunite like the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block before them, the pop-rock heartthrobs may never reclaim their former glory.
Are you excited for Made In The AM? Compare this to the 25.7 million followers of One Direction (lower than Shakira, Jennifer Lopez and even their own member Harry Styles) and these stats could be telling of the size and extent of the two fanbases.
They could make the return, if they wanted to. Who would have thought our little Irish lad would go on to write such a *coughs* heated song. It definitely laid-back verses and up-tempo chorus are a brilliant contrast. At this point, we’re just about ready to pack a bag and head out on a road trip.
Aside from making a big change in his career, Malik also split up with fiancee Perrie Edwards back in August.
Zayn Malik may not be a member of One Direction anymore, but the 22-year-old still has a loyal following as he was swarmed by fans upon leaving his hotel on Wednesday, November 11. Basically, it’s time to put the scoffing to a halt.
