One Direction, Pharrell Will Play Apple Music Festival in London
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Pharrell Williams, One Direction and Florence + The Machine are going to appear at the Apple Music Festival next month.
Previously known as the iTunes Festival and now named the Apple Music Festival after Apple’s nascent streaming service, other acts include recent Glastonbury headliners Florence and the Machine, and dance duo Disclosure.
The festival runs for 10 nights from September 19-28.
As before, the gigs will be broadcast live and archived – now through Apple Music.
Apple’s customers can experience the Apple Music Festival via Apple Music or iTunes on any compatible iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC or what Apple promises will be “stunning HD” with Apple TV. “Thank you for having me!” “It’s also the day our album’s released so that makes it extra special!” While Apple Music is priced differently across the world (it is as cheap as per month India) and due to land on Android soon, it remains to be seen how it will fare once the trial period is over – particularly since the likes of Spotify offer a free, ad-supported tier which Apple’s service doesn’t.
More detail about Apple Music Connect is here, while those wanting to dance to the drum of a different Beats 1 can get more info here. Apple will also partner with the London Evening Standard newspaper to give away tickets to the shows. Apple hosted the iTunes® Festival in London for eight years, and now in honor of the launch of Apple Music, has renamed the event the Apple Music Festival.
American singer Williams said he was grateful to be performing at the festival.
