One In A Million Identical Triplets Born In New York
– The Fenley brothers of Brightwaters, Long Island: Owen Michael, Noah Charles and Miles John, were introduced to the world Thursday by their proud parents, Jason and Kelli.
The babies weighed just over 2 pounds when they were born and spent 51 days in the NICU following the delivery.
According to the Kelli, when she was in the delivery room, about 40 to 50 people were there to help her deliver the baby.
‘Noah is the most fussy, without a doubt. To conceive identical triplets naturally without the aid of fertility drugs is considered a medical wonder. And then Owen, he’s kind of more outgoing already’.
It’s a one-in-a-million occurrence.
“Right now we are color coding them”.
For now, however, their similarities mean they are having to employ special measures to tell them apart.
“The tech was very quiet and serious and said, ‘um, I’ve never seen this before, I think it’s triplets, and I’m pretty sure they’re identical, ‘” Jason said.
“If anybody can handle this, they can”, she said. Kelli told that the triplets have to be bathed every night and they need to be served food after every three hours. One of their toe nails is painted that particular color and we like to dress them in the same color for the day.
The couple is now buying three sets of everything and eventually when the triplets grow up, there will be three college tuitions. “But a conservative approach is one in a million”.
“We won the genetic lottery”, Jason Fenley said. Jason and Kelli started to paint one of the boys’ toenails in different colors to identity them from each other since they are all identical.
Kelli says she will keep the boys on the schedule created by the hospital. Kelli’s sister and mother-in law will provide hands on assistance.
