One jawan injured after militants attack army patrol in Shopian
A grenade blast near a masjid today left eight people injured in Shopian district while another grenade was detected and defused near the house of a Hizbul Mujahidden militant.
Militants opened fire on a private vehicle hired by army for patrolling at Theorno village in Shopian, resulting in injuries to one soldier of Army’s 44 RR, a police official said. The injured were immediately rushed to the district hospital Shopian.
Meanwhile a grenade exploded at the Tuesday’s encounter site in the orchards in Ratnipora Pulwama.
One jawan was injured in the attacked. “At least four Indian Army soldiers were killed and more than six were injured”, Burhanuddin, the operational spokesperson of Hizb told CNS over phone.
Attacks on mosques have been nearly unknown in the valley, although at times Indian forces have laid siege to militants holed up in shrines.
He said that attacks on Indain army and security installations will continue till freedom struggle is not taken to its logical conclusion. “The sacrifices of militants and civilians will not go waste”, he said.
