One of the Great British Bake Off Contestants Has Had Professional Training
Marie will join Jo Brand on The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice on Friday, August 14 at 9pm on BBC Two.
The best decorated cup cake contest, run by the Monday Mums Group, attracted 30 entries with first prize scooped by youngster, Miley Pitcher, who was awarded a bubble machine. Last year’s victor Nancy Birtwhistle tells the Telegraph: ‘As long as you didn’t have formal qualifications and had never worked in food I don’t think there was anything to stop you having been on courses.
Great British Bake Off airs tonight at 8PM on BBC One.
The BBC1 show continued to dominate the ratings, with some 9.6 million fans watching former Star Baker Marie Campbell being eliminated after failing the technical challenge during Biscuit Week, in the second instalment of the sixth series.
Marie’s oven error means she finishes bottom of the technical, with Dorret taking the plaudits for her flawless arlettes, which comes as a boon to her after a disastrous week one and a fairly indifferent signature round earlier in the episode. Just how middle class can she be?
Despite the lack of stand-out characters, the bakers do have their moments: rather harrowingly, Tamal the trainee anesthetist uses a syringe to inject his Madeira cake with rosewater, and Paul the contestant bears a disturbing resemblance to Paul the professional baker.
The comment led to her being branded “too posh” while one person said she probably owned “four ponies and a Range Rover”. We didn’t have a fridge until I was about six, and the milk was kept outside the window.
Miss Shedden also said her impressive skills have been honed through home baking with family members since she was a child.
‘I have had a job since I was 14.
Not that you need an excuse, but it just so happens to be Afternoon Tea Week – so get the kettle on, grab your apron and rustle up a batch of GBBO victor Frances’ fabulously decadent scones. Her odds now stand at 3/1.
The episode then actually does start and, to paraphrase Flight Of The Conchords: “It’s biscuit!” I have had a job’.
