Leroy Barber grew up in rural New London, Wis., hunting and fishing with two of his brothers. To the rest of us, may we never forget the lessons of that time and that war – lessons about what it means to come together in times of adversity and to join in a common objective for the common good.
As the nation pauses to remember the attack on Pearl Harbor, which occurred 75 years ago on December 7, 1941, the occasion has special meaning for a Brownsburg native who is serving in the U.S. Navy in the very location that drew the United States into World War II. We know what will happen if we don’t.
Together, we forged a peace – and that was, and will be, a blessing for both sides. “A visit to Pearl Harbor by a liberal leader would have been more hard”. They must have been caught below decks without any chance to fight back.
Although two radar operators spotted the aircraft shortly after 7am local time, a flight of U.S. aircraft was expected at the time and no alarm was sounded.

David Middleton remembers hearing about the attack on Pearl Harbor 75 years ago and being fearful for his older cousin, who was stationed there. Specifically, it is felt in China, along with the South-East Asian countries that were occupied by Japanese forces and whose people suffered extreme deprivation, that Tokyo has failed to atone for its cruel past.
