One person dead after Winnipeg police pursuit of armed robber
Three of the robberies happened shortly before the fatal crash and involved Brandi Manningway, the 27-year-old woman who died, police said.
One person is dead and a passenger is injured after a police pursuit that ended in a crash on Portage Avenue early Monday morning.
The Winnipeg Police noticed a vehicle which was suspected of being involved in a commercial robbery earlier that evening.
A short time later the vehicle lost control and struck a building at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Good Street.
November 22 – 1800 block of Portage Avenue at 2:30 a.m. The second instance occurred at 5:45 a.m.in the 500 block of Keenleyside Avenue.
November 22 – Theft of gas in the 6600 block of Roblin Boulevard at 11:55 p.m. Manningway had been involved in three of them.
November 23 – 500 block of Dale Boulevard at 12:25 a.m.
Police began chase in the area of Empress Street and Portage Avenue, but lost sight of the vehicle due to high rates of speed. The University of Winnipeg’s Buhler Centre was damaged, as were at least two other buildings, trees, a parking metre and a lamp post.
Manningway succumbed to her injuries in hospital.
Bartlett is charged with four counts of Robbery with a weapon, four counts of possession of a weapon for unsafe goal, theft under $5000.00 and breach of probation.
