One Source Live to unite African creatives
Many people in Africa and even outside of Africa feel that the creative people of different African cultures do not get the representation that they need or deserve. Many other countries on the other continents are contributing their creative media in the new global society, and their contributions are getting readily shared all over the world. There are concerns that Africa is being left out, and that this is part of a trend. One Source Live to unite African creatives might be able to help reverse this trend.
One Source LIVE will take place in Joburg on March 24, 2018. As such, people still have some time to plan for it. In the Age of Information, it should be easy enough for people from all over the world to enjoy everything that this celebration has to offer, even if they cannot attend it personally. This is an all-day live event, and it might remind some people of the music festivals that they have attended in the past.

However, this is not just a celebration of the musicians of Africa, although they are certainly represented as well. This is a celebration of all African Art. Fashion designers and other artists will be there as well in order to truly represent African creativity.
This event has a lot of different goals. Obviously, the primary goal is still going to be to entertain. People are going to a huge live event like this in order to enjoy themselves and to see some incredible talent. For most people, that’s what the event is mainly about, and that is how things are going to stay.

However, it goes further than that. There is a subtle political message involved with this event. After all, most of the people behind One Source Live are trying to send a message to the broader African community with this celebration. They’re trying to make it clear that they insist on making their voices heard, even though Africa creative talent often lacks the representation it deserves in an increasingly global society.
Many people within different African cultures are well aware of the fact that many people in the rest of the world have a certain image of Africa. When the international media tends to cover Africa, this huge continent is often discussed as if it was a single country. Some people seem to be under the impression that this is literally true. The portrayals of Africa in the international media will often get even worse as well.
Many people all around the world will go through their entire lives without ever really seeing an original African musician or artist. If they do, the artist will still not be especially famous outside of local areas. Events like this, which will get international coverage, are capable of changing that. While the event itself will last only for a day, its influence will extend much further than that. In all likelihood, the effects of an event like this will continue for years, bringing more fame to the creative and talented people of Africa.
