OnePlus 2 Unveiling Live Blog!
OnePlus is making a big deal out of its OnePlus 2 launch, hyping its virtual reality reveal nearly as much as it’s been hyping up the OnePlus 2 itself. “The more you share, the more invites you get”, OnePlus has said.
So how can users can catch the OnePlus 2 launch, which is taking place via a “virtual reality” event?
OnePlus has released the OnePlus 2 Launch App on the Google Play store for its mega launch event on July 27 at 7 Pacific Time, which is around 7.30 am Tuesday for those in India.
OnePlus said: “A VR launch lets you stand right next to our team and our fans as we unveil our new flagship”. Like the OnePlus One flagship from 2014, the OnePlus 2 is now available for purchase through an invite system. Until then, the chief way to obtain an invite is as a gift from someone that already has one, or by participating in OnePlus forums.
OnePlus is using an invitation system to help match supply and demand.
If you wish to reserve a spot in the list, simply head over to the special website. If so, what’s your position?
The post adds, “Specifically, I’m talking about phone smashers, early forum members, early purchasers and the most active OnePlus One invite evangelists”.
As with the OnePlus One, you can get an invite from someone who already owns a OnePlus 2, or through one of the company’s promotions.
OnePlus will be announcing its new phone later today during an event that’s going to be livestreamed via the OnePlus app. “Invites are still a necessity” but this time the company is promising a reservation list, more inventory and a “quicker rollout of shareable invites”, reported by an Indian Express report.
Here is an OnePlus 2 that is to house Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, a fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, a 13MP main camera sensor, a 3,300mAh battery, and all this under a price tag of $450. If that’s the case, you can now get in line to eventually receive an invite to buy the phone.
The first batch of invites will begin rolling out “shortly after the launch (or perhaps even throughout)”, the corporate says.
