OnePlus opens invite reservation list and launches Cardboard app for their
As its name suggests, OnePlus 2 Launch app will live stream the OnePlus 2 launch event directly from China.
On this success, OnePlus are planning to open up shop in both Europe and North America likely to help with the demand for the OnePlus 2 which is set to be revealed next week on July 27. The OnePlus Two is going to be announced at an event on Monday, July 27 from 7PM Pacific Time, and will be the first smartphone announcement to use Google Cardboard VR to enhance the experience. If you don’t have the Google Cardboard headset, you still can use the app to watch the launch although you won’t be able to access special features that will be part of the VR stream.
“When a OnePlus 2 is born, it’s assigned an invite to help it find its home”.
To register for an invitation, click on the sourcelink, scroll to the bottom, and add your email address to the list.
OnePlus now says that “many” people are already on the reservation list, but when I signed up earlier today, I was approximately 20,000th in line.
Obviously it’d be nice if the OnePlus 2 were just available to everyone on day one, but that’s not the way that OnePlus operates.
Among the confirmed specs of the OnePlus 2 smartphone is the Snapdragon 810 V2.1 chipset from Qualcomm. Despite troubles with getting enough phones into distribution channels last time, OnePlus is sticking with its invite system for the new phone. That may be a bit lower than some would like to see from a Snapdragon 810-equipped phone, but you should probably hold off on making any performance-based buying decisions until the OnePlus 2 is actually released to the public.
Keep in mind that OnePlus has said to expect 30-50x the inventory at launch, so this list should run quicker than it did past year. If so, what’s your position?
