Only 14 Syrian refugees in Louisiana this year
The Obama administration has announced plans to resettle 10,000 Syrian refugees in the United States in 2016, but the State Department told WWL that those people will not be resettled in a single area. “It’s not that we don’t want to; it’s that we can’t because there’s no way to background check someone that’s coming from Syria”, Sen. “It’s that we can’t”.
But Friday night’s mass killings in Paris, which left at least 129 people dead, offered evidence that may have backed up what many, including Rubio, had been warning: People with secret ties to Islamic militants could flow across borders as part of waves of refugees.
Jindal’s letter came after several blogs reported that 10,000 Syrian refugees made their way through New Orleans and into Louisiana this year.
“There’s no way to vet that out”.
“The problem is we can’t background check them”.
“If I was in charge of ISIL, logistically I’d take advantage of this situation and put my people in, into the United States”, Bernazzani said. “We know that ISIS wants to bring in terrorists with these refugees”, he said.
“But ultimately the best way to deal with the refugee crisis is to create safe zones inside of Syria, so that people don’t risk their lives and you don’t have what will be a national security challenge both for our country and Europe of screening”, he added. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Sunday told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the USA should admit Syrian Christians, after proper vetting.
“It’s also important to remember that these attacks are the efforts of extremists and do not reflect the peaceful ways of people of Middle Eastern descent here and around the world”. “But our first priority is protecting the safety of our residents”, the statement said. A Huffington Post/YouGov poll conducted in September around the time of Obama’s announcement found that 46 percent of Americans opposed allowing more Syrians to move to the USA and just 39 percent favored the policy.
As Governor of Louisiana, I demand information about the Syrian refugees being placed in Louisiana in hopes that the night of horror in Paris is not duplicated here.
“I think we would stand shoulder to shoulder with France in whatever decision they make”, he said. “I also said that we should increase numbers of refugees”. Cruz said the administration “does not have the information” to determine who among refugees might be a terrorist.
Humanitarian groups have called on the USA to accept 65,000 more refugees. She said it takes about three years for refugees to go through stringent security screenings.
