Oops: UK astronaut Tim Peake calls wrong number from space
Britain’s first astronaut on a space mission, Major Tim Peake, accidentally called the wrong number when trying to call home from space.
He apparently dialled the wrong number and said, “Hello, is this planet Earth?” to a woman on the receiving line who did not know him.
Talk about crossed wires, but at least this gave us a bit of early cheer.
However, on Thursday British astronaut Tim Peake did just that.
Ever got a phone call and someone says, ‘Hello, Is This Planet Earth?’.
Peake is joined on the Space Station by NASA’s Scott Kelly and Tim Kopra and Russian cosmonauts Sergey Volkov, Mikhail Kornienko and Yuri Malenchenko.
Izal, Zero-G toilet paper suppliers to the Space station, tweeted: ‘Congratulations to Tim on his turning point acheivement. Earlier on December 22, the British astronaut had delivered a Christmas video message from the International Space Station (ISS).
Later today, Britons could get a glimpse of the ISS as it soars 250 miles above the Earth.
It came as many Britons looked forward to getting a glimpse of the ISS on Christmas Day. People in southern England could see it in West at about 4.24 pm where it will be visible for six minutes and then disappear below the south-eastern horizon.
