Open Forum: Are you upgrading to a new iPhone?

Despite minor upgrades, customers are flocking to stores to buy the new phones and long lines have reportedly formed at Apple stores around the world.

The industrious tinkerers at iFixit got their hands on an iPhone 6s and 6s Plus and immediately tore the things apart to figure out what makes them tick.

The improved cameras and 3D Touch display are the biggest selling points of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, according to a survey of 38 buyers in line at the Reston, Va., store.

During the announcement, Legere confirmed that anyone who wants to trade in their old iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 for a new iPhone 6S can do so starting this Friday.

Apple has said battery life is unchanged in the new phones.

The new phones feature a new color and upgraded camera.

“I’m a big Apple fan and I wanted to have the rose gold model which I’m desperate for and I heard they have very limited stock”, Sheikh told CNBC, adding that he was also first in line for the iPhone 6 past year. The Plus costs $100 more. The phones come unlocked, so they will work on any service carrier.

Here’s how it works: Buy a new iPhone with Verizon and pay it off in monthly installments (for example, $27 a month for the 16 GB version).

Foot traffic tracking sites like Foursquare estimate that sales for the new iPhone could reach between $13 and $15 million for its release.

This week has been full of great announcements for Apple and iPhone fans.

Lacklustre offerings this year from rival smartphone manufacturer Samsung Electronics Co. also will help Apple stand out in the marketplace, analyst Patrick Moorhead of Moor Insights & Strategy wrote in an email.
