Opposition parties are fighting war of their own interests: Defense Minister
“I come today for the first time in Panama case hearing in support of the SC”.
THE Supreme Court-sanctioned Joint investigation team (JIT) probing the Panamagate graft case against Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family submitted its final report to the Supreme Court on July 10, 2017.
The JIT finally presented their scathing 275-page report looking into the allegations to the Supreme Court on July 10. The party leaders and spokespersons were also briefed about the stance on Panama case.
The main opposition party, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has also demanded that Sharif resign immediately. Mr Haq said that the ruling family and Nawaz Sharif had become ineligible under the Articles 62, 63 who used the floor of the parliament for his business purposes.
It has been revealed that a close aide of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is counted in the inner circle of PM, provided joint investigation team (JIT) with all the documents.
Furthermore, that a part of the report was withheld which is also violative of the rights of Sharif family given “that the correspondence and material relating to Mutual Legal Assistance is neither privileged nor otherwise its disclosure is prohibited by any provision of law”, the application said. However, Sharif termed the report as “baseless”.
In addition to the 18-year-old investigation into the London properties, the JIT has also recommended reviving cases such as three NAB references and two FIA cases that were quashed by the Lahore High Court. But the JIT found that the document was printed in Calibri font, which Microsoft had not released for public use until 2007.
“But while the loss of Sharif is unlikely to strike a blow at bilateral ties, a change of regime at this time might mean that there will be new players in Islamabad, too new to matter, leaving the job of governance and foreign policy to the army brass in Rawalpindi”. Zafarullah Khan added that Sharif’s legal team will be challenging the findings of the JIT report.
“It hurts that despite of our hard work, attempts are afoot once again to push the country back”, Reuters cited Sharif as saying during a meeting of his ruling PML-N parliamentary party over the weekend.
Pakistan as a country has seen a number of army-led coups, with Sharif himself being the target of a coup when General Musharraf ousted his second government in 1999. “Army has no role in the process”.
Asif said that for making the country atomic power the government of Nawaz Sharif was removing under the global conspiracy; however instead of unconstitutionally end of two governments, Nawaz Sharif again came into power with heavy majority.
China is also not anxious by the possibility of change of guard in Pakistan, which is facing serious internal security threat from the various jihadi groups including Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), because China depends 80% on Pakistan Army and 20% on the civilian government for the fulfilment of their economic and strategic interests. “Confronted with serious domestic and external challenges, the country can not afford worsening political uncertainty and instability”.
