Orangutan kisses pregnant woman’s belly

This is not the first time the 47-year old male orangutan named Rajang has done this.

Orangutans are said to be among the most intelligent primates.

Recording the moment on camera is Jamie Clarke, Knight’s partner who was visiting the zoo with her that day.

“Rajang loves to be involved and imitates us when we are cleaning his enclosure”, zookeeper Paula Fairweather told the Essex Chronicle.

In the video, Clarke tries to put his belly, then his hand, on the glass but Rajang showed no interest. Clarke claimed on YouTube that the animal had a special fascination with Knight because when he pressed his own stomach up to the glass, he “got a dirty look”. The 37-week pregnant woman was startled to see that not only was the ape was fixated on her belly, he also wanted to give it some love – and so he went right ahead and did just that.

The couple is expecting a boy, whom they plan to name Charles, the Daily Mirror added. Rajang, a part Bornean part Sumatran orangutan, arrived at Colchester zoo in 1980.
