Oregon police officer shot and killed in Seaside
Both the officer and suspect were taken to hospital and their conditions were unknown, according to police in the coastal community of about 6,500 residents, about 80 miles (130 km) west of Portland.
In another incident, police officers shot dead a mentally-ill individual described by USA media as a transgender woman whom they said was trying to commit suicide on Thursday.
A police officer was shot on Friday in western OR when he attempted to serve a warrant to a suspect, according to police.
The unidentified officer was 39-years-old and had been with the Seaside Police Department for 13 years. The suspect was also fatally wounded.
The suspect also died.
He was identified as Sgt. Jason Gooding, a married father of two school-age children.
A press conference is scheduled for Saturday morning.
Authorities say the shooting happened at 9:24 p.m.as Gooding and a partner were serving a felony assault warrant on Ferry in front of the Pig N’ Pancake diner on Broadway.
